The Humanity Launch is coming to Wilmot on Wednesday, November 13 to lead our high school and middle school students in retreats.
The Humanity Launch is a regional company that worked with over 14,000 students in Iow, South Dakota, and Minnesota last year. The students will participate in The Humanity Launch’s “Be a Light” retreat where the focus is on making a difference in home, school, and community. The lessons include courage, vulnerability, you are not alone, overcoming our fears, learning how to listen and ask good questions, and how to treat yourself and others better. The students will hear stories about the themes and have time for group and one-on-one conversation. Activities are interspersed to keep the energy and pace fast moving and fun. We hope that you will strongly encourage your child to actively participate in their retreat.
Dr. Gregg Talcott and Kim Bartling are life-long educators from South Dakota. They come from different scholastic backgrounds and experiences; yet, share one thing: a passion for inspiring and challenging educators and students. The Humanity Launch was created to serve that vision of building and maintaining positive school culture.
Learn more about them at TheHumanityLaunch.com Parents and community members are welcome to attend any portion of either retreat.

The Wilmot School District is pleased to announce that we will be joining the Farm to School Program this year. The purpose of this program is to provide locally grown and sourced beef for our students. We would like to thank Bryce and Paula Heinje for donating the first beef and Bob & Heidi Pelzel for being the second family to donate. The processing will be done through The Meathouse in Andover, SD. We are in the process of estimating how many heads of beef will be needed but believe this will be 2 to 3 annually. With that, the school is looking for additional beef donors along with those who would assist us with the processing fees. If you are interested in donating beef or assisting the school with the processing fees, please contact Becky Thaden at 605-938-4647 or Wilmot.kitchenstaff@k12.sd.us https://doe.sd.gov/farmtoschool/

Games tonight start very soon! JH Football at 4:00pm in Wilmot v Waubay-Summit
Then,
JH Volleyball in the gym v Waubay-Summit at 5:00pm, followed by JV at 6:15, then Varsity.

Wilmot High School senior Mya Heinje has been named the Student Council’s "Student of the Month" for August/September. Daughter of Bryce and Paula Heinje, Mya is an Honor Roll of Excellence student, WHS 2024 Homecoming Queen, and a Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week.
She serves as Senior Class President and Vice President of the National Honor Society, as well as President of FFA, where she has earned several awards. A multi-sport athlete, Mya has competed in varsity basketball, volleyball, track, and High School Rodeo. She also qualified for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Team.
Mya plans to attend SDSU for Ag Business and Marketing.

Last night, our local honor society chapter welcomed eight new members to their group. Our honor society is responsible for many great things in our school, including the annual Vitalant Blood Drive, which was unfortunately cancelled thanks to Mother Nature. Additionally, the program supported the Scholastic Books for Students initiative for grades PK-5, thanks to a generous donation from the Wilmot Alumni Association and the Wilmot American Legion. We distributed over 100 books each month for 8 months.
Our Backpack Program assisted 45 students from Pre-Kindergarten-12, supported by the United Methodist Church in Milbank, generous donations from the Wilmot community, and fundraising efforts from Honor Society members. We also contributed to our community by delivering meals during the Community Meal and assisting with small projects throughout the year. Another mentorship opportunity comes with our Buddy Reader Program in our elementary.

Look for this tomorrow during conferences!
