Students in Mrs. Kirchmeier’s chemistry class have been learning about the combined gas law. One experiment they did was seeing how a quick temperature change from hot to cold made soda cans implode. The empty cans were filled with a little bit of water and set on the stove to boil. When the water boils, the can fills with water vapor. When the can is then immersed in the ice water, the water vapor cools down and condenses into water droplets. This leads to a void inside the can and the air outside can compress it without resistance.

A reminder to fans that attend our athletic events:
Entry fees help support our programs. There is a lot of cost involved in running our programs. One of the biggest costs is the hiring of officials. Our rates at the door have increased this year to help defray the increase in costs for driver's and rider's fees, and the rates for our officials time. Current students and staff members are able to attend games for free. Other family members must purchase a ticket. Our guests aged 65+ are able to attend our events for free as well. See additional image for more info.
Our concessions are usually run by student groups and activities and take 40% of the money raised for the evening. Our W Club also helps to run concessions and pays for letters, pins, and other items that benefit all of our programs.
In other words, thank you for understanding and supporting our student-athletes and their programs, whether through the purchase of an activity pass or your ticket at the games or buying a pop, hot dog, or candy!
